Sandton teen shines at Junior Interprovincial Cricket Tournament

The Cubs secured gold, winning 8 out of 9 matches, with Luke ranking as the 6th highest run-scorer and 2nd top bowler.

Crawford International Sandton College announced that Luke Jones, a talented Grade 11 learner, was selected to represent Central Gauteng at the Junior Interprovincial Action Cricket Tournament at the Fourways Action Sports Arena.

Luke’s team, the U16 Central Gauteng Cubs, achieved outstanding success at the tournament by clinching the gold medal.

The Cubs displayed remarkable skill and teamwork, winning eight out of their nine matches and delivering a commanding performance in the finals against their long-time rivals, the Southern Gauteng Scorpions.

According to Nadia Cooke, this victory is a testament to the Cubs’ hard work, dedication, and passion for the sport.

“The Central Gauteng Action Cricket team and their coaches have made our province proud with their exceptional commitment and sportsmanship.”

Cooke added that their achievement serves as a shining example of what can be accomplished through teamwork and perseverance.

“We are particularly proud of Luke, who showcased his exceptional talent throughout the tournament. Luke scored an impressive 140 runs, ranking sixth overall, and claimed 17 wickets, earning him the second-ranked bowler for the event.”
