Another MCC Hockey banger in Morningside

More exciting hockey was hosted by the Morningside Country Club over the weekend.

Morningside was buzzing on July 28: from a world of arts and culture at Redhill School, into a festival of sports and activity over at the Morningside Country Club (MCC) – where hockey is a favourite pastime.

In this week’s Gauteng league games, the visiting Vaal University of Technology’s (VUT) women’s A-side met with their eager counterparts from the MCC women’s C-team on the greens, where both teams operated a clinic.

Both teams played furious hockey into the third quarter, by which time the home side was a goal up, and doing their best to keep the visitors at bay.

MCC player Gareth Ortel finally intercepts Thomas Woodhead from the Joburg South men’s side.

It was in the fourth quarter of the game that MCC scored their second goal of the match, bringing them to a 2-0 win against the visiting VUT team.

This exciting game was followed by a hard-hitting showdown between the MCC men’s and Joburg South men’s teams, which resulted in a 1-1 draw by the end of the fourth quarter.
