Ladles of love from CDA Solutions celebrate Mandela Day

Many hands joined together across South Africa, Gauteng, and Johannesburg to make Nelson Mandela Day a successful day full of solutions served with ladles of love.

Nelson Mandela Day has extended beyond South Africa to become an international day for goodwill, dedicated to the legacy of Nelson Mandela.

As such, the team at CDA Solutions came together to commemorate Mandela Day on July 18, by making 67 Packets of Hope as part of the Wynberg-based Ladles of Love initiative.

Each packet of hope included an assortment of essential food items such as lentil and pea soup, samp and beans, and soya mince, assembled by the team – with easy instructions to prepare a hot meal for a family of four. Marketing director of CDA Solutions, Shani Plantema said that it’s important to participate in events such as this Mandela Day drive, where every donation is valued and contributes to the collective spirit of ubuntu.

“It’s moments like these that truly capture the essence of what it means to be a part of the CDA family,” Plantema said. “Mandela Day is a powerful reminder of the profound impact that individual actions can have. By coming together and creating these charity packs, we’re honouring Mandela’s legacy, and making a tangible difference in the lives of those in need.”

The packs were donated by CDA Solutions to Ladles of Love, who then distributed them to Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres in Alexandra, homes that are working with Ladles of Love. Packs went to children, elders, and disabled people.

“There were more than 67, and they’re all going out to our community’s early childhood centres to feed their children, and some teachers. These are usually children who aren’t guaranteed a meal before or after school,” the COO at Ladles of Love celebrated. “CDA Solutions dropped off buckets of love at our warehouse; this work is put towards our nutrition and education programme called, Nourish Our Children.”
