1. Hippo attacks woman in Kruger National Park

A woman is in hospital after being mauled by a hippo bull in one of the largest game reserves in Africa.

The hippo bull charged and attacked a group of researchers, led by Dr Freek Venter. It eventually got hold of Rinza, Venter’s wife, and badly mauled her. The incident happened on July 25.

2. KZN couple gunned down outside housing complex

An investigation is underway after a couple was gunned down in the parking lot of a housing complex on Clayfield Drive in Phoenix, KZN, on July 26. The couple was shot multiple times and were declared dead on scene.

3. Police investigating Pretoria doctor’s death

An inquest has been opened after a doctor who had multiple injuries died on the street outside his apartment building.

According to Old East Safety Forum spokesperson Jarad Frimmel, responders acted on information received via a call from bystanders who reported a disturbance at an apartment building in Brooklyn on July 25.
