Balfour FC dominate Wanderers home side in junior soccer league

An exciting junior football league is underway, and the games are action-packed.

It was an exciting day for fast-paced soccer, as parents gathered on the side of the football field at Wanderers as the Balfour FC A team took on the Wanderers FC C side on July 14.

The visiting side from Balfour Park set the early pace and dominated the match throughout the first half, going into the break with a 3–0 lead.
The home side team was spurred into action in the second half, applying more pressure and having more shots on target. The pressure paid off when Wanderers scored their first, however, Balfour was not daunted and scored another three.

The home team did score a consolation goal with Balfour walking away with a 6–2 win.
Warriors FC administrator and organiser of the league Joanne Tankle shared some background on the league.

Balfour FC player Ntando Nnikathi defends against Wanderers FC star Cayden Beck.

“We have 28 teams in the league. We play under the North Rand Football Association, and the North Rand is combined with the South Rand league, it’s quite a big league,” Tankle said. “This is a league match today, with matches running concurrently here, and at the Sandton Sport Club.”
