Emergency officials have asked motorists to use alternative routes and keep the area clear.

Johannesburg Emergency Management Services, Eskom, as well as City Power have been contacted for further comment. This is a developing story. More updates will be made as they become available.

Eskom has also reported a power outage affecting customers in Benmore Gardens, Dennehof, Morningside, Sandown, Simba, Strathavon, and Wierda Valley. The estimated time of restoration is not available at this stage.
