JHB North hosts bowlers’ pursuit of gold

The Johannesburg Bowls Association’s Gauteng open tournament continues in Bryanston.

As bowls continues to be a popular recreational activity for many across South Africa, four women’s teams met for Johannesburg Bowls Association’s Gauteng open tournament on July 7.

“The tournament is happening all over Johannesburg: from Alberton to Killarney, all over,” said Joanne Conrad. “We’re hosting the ladies’ play-offs, and we’re in the second weekend of this tournament. The winning two teams will play against each other afterwards.”

Conrad proudly celebrated how this year’s open tournament had drawn the largest number of participants to date. This leg of the tournament was held at the Bryanston Sports Club.

“It will run until the end of July, and we are playing for gold medals, yes,” Conrad concluded.

The winners of the ladies’ singles play-offs were Desree Levin from Killarney in the section 6 division, and Thabelo Muvhango won the section 7 games.
