Washington – the UK-banned dog breed beloved in Parkmore

Meet Washington – the dog with a global story to correct.

Have you ever wondered what sort of beautiful dog a talented actress and director pets? Meet Washington, Auralie Stratton’s affectionate, trained American bully companion.

The pair were enjoying a walk at Field and Study Park on May 25, when Washington instinctively sniffed out this dog-loving journalist. However, Washington’s breed is one that’s garnered a lot of trouble over the years.

“The breed has just been banned in the United Kingdom in December last year,” Stratton explained. “They need certain things. I’m very active, so he runs with me, he trains, and that’s important.”

Washington loved all the attention park users seemed inclined to give, dripping pools of thick slobber onto the grass, in patches, around him.

“He’s bred from a pit bull and a Staffordshire terrier, so people think that they’re aggressive. They’re just so misunderstood: they’re the most loving breed I’ve ever owned,” said Stratton. “As you can see, he loves people, and he’s got a lot of slobber. He’s about 18 months old.”

Stratton also shared how Washington eats as much as one can expect from an extra-large companion – describing him as a dustbin who eats everything.

“You’ve got to keep food away from this guy,” Stratton laughed. “He loves liver-bread; that’s his favourite.”

Washington, who owns his own Adidog hooded sweater, showed off a lot of his personality at the park. He leads an active, social life with Stratton for companionship.

“He just wants to be out. He loves being in the car, and going to training,” Stratton concluded. “You have to train these types of dogs, and then you’ll have the most beautiful dog in the world.”
