Amiya Lala: I’m inspired by seeing the smiles on the faces of the people around me every morning. I try to make them as proud and happy as possible by just doing everything that I possibly can to make the most of my day.
Most people struggle to get out of bed in the morning, especially so when wintry days have been as chilly as Sandton has been of late.
Participants from the Varsity College quiz and Bryanston Primary School learners were asked about what inspires them to get out of bed in the morning to spend their youth actively.
Here’s what the youth of Johannesburg had to say …
Calvin van Staden: My father is the reason why I get up every morning. He inspires and teaches me, and he guides my youth. He is my motivation every morning.Yoshan Govender: I watched the David Beckham documentary. He said that he trained with his father a lot when he was young. This inspired me to keep trying until I also get what I want in life.Thabelo Negovha: Knowing that I can come to school and help my friends and teachers, then I get to go home and help my family. I know that once I graduate from school I can help even more people in the future.Abigail Penny: The realistic answer is my ringtone. I get up with a positive outlook on life. When I’m happy in the morning, it lasts throughout the day. I’m inspired by my family. I really love them.Mohau Kgasi: Just knowing that I’m able to be myself, and try to make a difference that can drastically impact other peoples’ lives positively. That helps me find out more about myself, what I can and can’t do.Neo Thelele: What gets me out of bed is that I want to make a change in this world by helping the less fortunate make a difference to their lives.
