A hilarious Deathly Murder in Sandton

TOP comedy presented, once again, guaranteed laughter to Sandton theatregoers.

An actor, a shady business broker, a mysterious ghostwriter, and a fortuneteller are trapped in a haunted mansion.

The mansion belonged to a recently deceased murder mystery playwright and producer.

These ingredients built up the hilarity behind Deathly Murder – which ran at Theatre on the Square from May 14–25.

Audiences were transported into the dark, side-splitting world of Dorian Draycott – a ghost trying to solve his death as a ghost.

Deathly Murder is T.O.P. Comedy’s return to the stage since Seeing Other People in 2023.

This latest production starred company members James Netherlands (portrayed actor, Jack Hoff), Sasha Karlin (portrayed by broker, Ramon Anson), Hira Lodhi (portrayed by ghostwriter, Narissa Kyst), Hlumie Molo (portrayed fortuneteller, Madame Miriam), and production director, Martin Grendele, also portrayed Draycott.

Deathly Murder was well-received by audiences in Sandton.

“Physical theatre at its best: Darion stole the show,” said Barbara Gllman.

“It was brilliant; they kept us laughing and wondering what was next,” Anna Sanfilippo said.

Deathly Murder was an original and fabulous mid-week romp,” Bruce Little added. “It was hyper-stimulating; the comic timing was a treat, and it’s just really lekker to see young theatre makers making theatre.”
From start to finish, Deathly Murder held audience members in stitches through quirky accenting, gripping comedic storytelling, and a staged Kaiju (monster) battle on stage. This production is one to keep an eye-out for over coming months in Johannesburg.
