Young soccer players from across Johannesburg met at Montrose Primary School, towards determining the best 7-a-side school football teams.

The energy in Parkmore was electric, as scores of families gathered in support of their soccer player children.

U8–U10 boys’ teams, as well as U14 girls’ teams from Montrose recently were joined on the sports field by learners from Bryneven, Bedfordview, Reddam House Waterfall, Meredale, Crawford Lonehill, Rivonia, and Bryanston primary schools.

Montrose Primary’s principal Sonette van Loggerenberg commented on the importance of inter-school sporting opportunities, and how they enhance learner development.

“Inter-school tournaments like these are vital in strengthening relationships between schools and also bringing parents together in support of their kids while having fun,” said Van Loggerenberg. “Well done to all the prize winners in the different age groups and I hope that all in attendance thoroughly enjoyed the event and took back with them, a lifetime of enjoyable memories. The players also get a rare opportunity of playing football under lights in front of a large crowd.”
