Plans for Buccleuch Satellite Station confirmed

Provincial police responds to enquiry regarding state of Buccleuch police depot.

Feedback from Sandton SAPS indicates that although there are plans to uplift the satellite police station in Buccleuch, these plans are yet to be dated for execution.

Enquiries being made to Johannesburg district police spokesperson Captain Jeff Phora for feedback on the satellite station continued on May 2. This followed up on the headline SAPS’ dereliction of duty [Week ending March 29].

On behalf of the Buccleuch community, Phora had initially been contacted on March 21, with an enquiry into the state of the Sandton police satellite office in Buccleuch – with a follow-up enquiry on April 2.

Buccleuch Satellite Police Station is in a broken state.

On May 4, the enquiry into the satellite station in Buccleuch was escalated to provincial police spokesperson Brigadier Brenda Muridili, towards furthermore ascertain why it had taken so long to gain feedback – and by when the Buccleuch community could expect to see the satellite department functional again.

“I can confirm that there are plans to refurbish the Buccleuch contact point,” Muridili said. “Unfortunately, I am not at liberty to mention a timeline on when the contact point will be servicing the community.”

Muridili encouraged the community to take note of alternatives that are accessible.

“Sandton Police Station has one satellite which operates 24/7 in Gallo Manor,” said Muridili.
