Representatives from the Gauteng Education Department (GED) Johannesburg’s east district joined Bryanston Primary School’s staff, parents and school governing body (SGB) members for the unveiling of the recently installed multi-service sports field on April 12.
“This is a very big year for us at this school,” said BPS academics head of department Arina Botes. “We are celebrating our 70th jubilee, and we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate than with the unveiling of our multi-surface field: the Morne Marx Sports Arena.”
The school put together an intimate and luxuriously comfortable launch event for the recently installed arena.
“We’re a school that never stops,” said BPS principal Morne Marx, thanking all the stakeholders for their contributions towards making the arena a reality for the school and surrounding community. “Schools are not isolated; we all fight the same battles. I believe that it’s important to have representatives from other schools here tonight. Thank you very much for joining us here.”
GED district director Shirley Molobi praised the multi-service field as a remarkable facility which stands as a testimony to the school’s commitment to sports, and physical fitness.
“As we take a moment to reflect on this great achievement, I am filled with an overwhelming sense of pride and gratitude,” Molobi said. “This multi-purpose sports arena serves as a physical manifestation of your dedication to providing our learners and community members with the best opportunities to excel both athletically, and academically.
“Also, this will serve as a vibrant hub where learners and community members can come together in nurturing their passion for sports, and to enhance their overall well-being.”
