Bryanston golfer keeps improving

Bryanston local shares the story behind his improvement as a golf player.

There must be something truly special about golf which hooks golfers from the moment they set foot on the greens and tee off for the first time.

Bryanston resident Daniel Maimba spent the afternoon of February 20 at the Bryanston Country Club practising his putting.

Maimba shared his experience from 12 years ago that drew him to fall in love with the sport of golf.

“I was invited by a friend, they asked me to try it,” Maimba said. “I didn’t think I would like it, but I fell in love; I couldn’t stop.”

Now, Maimba plays golf every Saturday at the club’s course, which he visits in his spare time to put effort into maintaining his growth as a golfer.

“What I’m trying to do here is just to get the feel for certain distances. I started with a meter, then 2m, and 3m,” Maimba said, explaining his practice routine for the afternoon. “I think putting has been one of the areas that I have seen great improvement in, and hence I am spending a bit more time on that.”

Maimba positioned balls in a crescent-moon shape around the hole he was aiming for, and swung his putting club at each, aiming for a hole-in-one every time.
