Batting-wise resulted in a good game for UJ Rivonia

Cricket lovers can attend tournaments at Grayston Preparatory School every Sunday for the coming two weeks to watch young cricket players do their thing.

For the first tournaments of the year, cricket players at Grayston Preparatory School showed their dedication, love, and joy at starting the playing season.

The U11 boys from the UJ Rivonia team and Cover Drive Cricket School battled their souls out to make sure that one of them walked away with the championship title.

Cover Drive coach Richard Muzhange said one could tell from the boys’ faces how excited they are to be back on the field after the holidays.

“The boys were ready and wanted to play cricket, but without proper training before this match, some of them were still slow and not fully prepared.”

Muzhange said that he has seen how good these players are, and he is sure that they will make their comeback.

UJ Rivonia coach Karabo Legodi added that the first match of 2024 with this talented squad was super thrilling.

“The whole squad were superstars today; they went out to bat, put a massive score on the board, and bowled and fielded like little professionals.”

Legodi explained that the opposition team had some good bowlers and that their batters played with respect and made sure the bad balls went for boundaries, so they put the pressure back on the bowlers, and this was key to them reaching 186/1.

“Cover Drive also had some good batters that we kept very quiet by not conceding too many boundaries, and this applied pressure back on the batting side as they started falling behind the run rate.”
