Ward 102 breakthroughs for Lucinda

Lucinda Harman is determined to bring change to Ward 102.

Lucinda Harman, the newly elected councillor of Ward 102, with only three months in office, weighed in on her ward.

According to Harman, August 23 will never be forgotten, as she was told life would never be the same, and this has certainly been true.

“For me, being a councillor is a calling and a role I take seriously in serving the residents of Ward 102. Nothing can ever prepare a councillor for what you face once elected.”

She added that there are low days when the naysayers and critics come out from every corner and take out their anger, frustration, and fear. Not understanding the complexity or limits we councillors face.

“My best days were witnessing breakthroughs in issues that had been unresolved for years, such as Hurlingham Manor feeder one, road reinstatements, park interventions, and the start of Randburg CBD revitalization.”

Harman explained that the simple yet powerful appreciation from a resident, going to bed knowing that she made a difference in residents’ lives and living with fulfilment are the best things that have happened to her in Ward 102.

“2024 is going to be a defining year for South Africans. National elections, especially with such high stakes, are a time of uncertainty. 2024 is set to be a wild ride and one for the history books.”

She highlights that her best advice to residents is to rest and reflect over this holiday season, and her question to them is, do they want to be part of the problem or the solution?

“If you say yes to being part of the solution, then it is necessary to become an active citizen. Make sure that you and everyone you know have checked their registration status. And then every day, choose to do something for the greater good of your community. Rescuing South Africa starts with you.”
