Puppet show entrains children at Bryanston Library

Puppetry is a form of theatre or performance that involves the manipulation of puppets, and inanimate objects, often resembling some type of human or animal figure.

It was a beautiful afternoon filled with fun and laughter at the Bryanston Library where children gathered to enjoy a puppet show.

Juliet Manning, the chairperson of the Friends of Bryanston Library, said they try to support the local library in whatever way they need help.

“Today we organised the puppet show, presented by Ann Parker with the travelling zoo.”

Manning added that the purpose of the puppet show is to try and encourage young readers to come to the library and familiarise the children with the wonders within its four walls.

“Today was a great success with our annual puppet show, as one could tell from the number of children who came along for the show.”

She explained that they have been doing this show for many years, and every year they get to meet new cute little faces.

Ann Parker, who presented the puppet show, said she loves working with children and is a trained teacher.

“I wanted to do something that uses creativity and drama in it, and puppetry does that for me. I also enjoy seeing those cute little smiles from my audience.”

Parker added that she learned to do the puppet shows from American missionaries who taught them how to do it professionally years ago.

“In my shows, I use large, big-mouthed puppets to entertain the young minds.”

She elaborated that most of her shows are educational and fun for children.
