The Webb Ellis Cup visits Sandton
Nelson Mandela Square visitors get the chance to take a picture with the Webb Ellis Cup.
The pride of South Africa, the Webb Ellis Rugby World Cup trophy, spent an afternoon at the Nelson Mandela Square in Sandton – posing for photographs – on November 30.
South Africa successfully defended their Rugby World Cup on October 28 in France and brought the Webb Ellis Cup home for a consecutive time.
The cup is traveling South Africa, and persons in Sandton had the opportunity to queue up and see the trophy, as well as take a photo with South Africa’s crown jewel.
Nelson Mandela Square asset manager Brian Unsted hailed the occasion as a proud moment for the property.
“Having the iconic Webb Ellis Cup at Nelson Mandela Square echoes the Springbok’s well-deserved World Cup win,” said Unsted. “With the statue of Madiba overlooking the patriotic display of the South African spirit, it is a symbol of how much stronger we are together.”
