Getting to the bottom of two potholes in Bryanston

Two inconvenient potholes to be fixed by JRA shortly

Two potholes have tarnished the pleasure of driving through Bryanston conveniently.

The Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) was contacted on November 23 to ask if there was a plan in place to repair the inconvenient potholes. The one is on Grosvenor Road, shortly before the Westbourne Road and Belgrave Street interchange when coming from West Hertford Road. The other is situated shortly after turning onto Devonshire Avenue from Belgrave Street.

JRA spokesperson Bertha Peters-Scheepers responded on November 27, indicating that it was due to a Joburg Water (JW) reinstatement.

“We are waiting for the Joburg Water reinstatement order and the road will be repaired immediately thereafter,” Peters-Scheepers said. “In the meantime, it will be made safe.”

Peters-Scheepers said JRA had not been alerted to the pothole in the middle of the road on Devonshire Avenue.

“An inspector will be sent to the site to verify,” Peters-Scheepers said.
Peters-Scheepers concluded with a warning to persons found tampering with public roads.

“A fine will be issued as this is against the city’s policies and a criminal offence. For one to work on our roads, they need to get a wayleave from our wayleave’s office at the depot.”
