Sandton equestrian learner represents at competition

Working hunter is a horse in a competitive event judged according to the pace, manners, way of going, and jumping style without regard to conformation.

Crawford International Sandton learner Aqua Douglas Pedersen (14) feels that it is God’s influence and grace that inspire her love for horses.

She says riding is rewarding and teaches her to never take anything for granted.

“Riding helps me understand that hard work and dedication pay off in the end; it has given me the ability to fly without wings and face my fears while putting all my faith and trust in an animal that is three times the size of me and doesn’t speak my language.”

Aqua Douglas Pedersen is proud of her achievements.

She recently participated in the South African National Equestrian Schools Association (Sanesa) National Championships, representing Gauteng, held at Kyalami Equestrian Park.

Nadia Cooke, the project coordinator at the school, said, “Aqua was chosen for the A-team in Working Hunter and had an excellent clear round and good pace in a very big class of riders. Aqua and Beautiful Day, her horse, were placed ninth, and her team placed second.”
