“Notwithstanding the challenges we currently face as a country, I firmly believe in South Africa’s future and this R10 billion investment is a huge vote of confidence in our resilience as a nation,” said Brookes.

Brookes explained that more than 4 200 job opportunities will be created across the lifespan of the development, which is expected to be completed in 2033.

In addition to the crystal-clear lagoon, Munyaka will offer residents amenities such as gym facilities, an on-site concierge, restaurants, meeting rooms, a swimming pool, laundromats, a cinema, wellness spa, and water activities such as paddle boarding and canoeing.

“From conception, we worked closely with LYT Architecture, and the scale of this project really allowed us to challenge conventions,” said Brookes.

LYT Architecture director Guy Steenekamp said, “As the architect, LYT is immensely proud to have played our role in this project and grateful for our long and successful association with Balwin. We congratulate them on Munyaka and the inspiring vision they are creating for the future.”

CEO of the Waterfall Management Company, Willie Vos said the fact that Balwin Properties chose Waterfall City as the location for Munyaka, its second Crystal Lagoon residential development, is a testament to the world-class reputation and value-perception of this award-winning smart city.
