Gareth Cliff starts new uncensored shows

During the first episode of the Gareth Cliff Uncancelled live podcast with guests, the presenter tackled societal issues of the cancel culture with life long friend, Unathi Nkayi.

In today’s modern society, anyone can fall prey to the social phenomenon known as cancel culture.

Often used on social media, cancel culture is when an individual is boycotted for either stating an opinion that in most cases is provocative, insensitive, and unacceptable in society.
Classic examples of people who have been cancelled are Kanye West, Dave Chappelle, and locally, radio and television personality, Gareth Cliff.

In one of his discussions with comedian Eugene Khoza, Cliff was encouraged to share his thoughts on the matter which resulted in the birth of Gareth Cliff Uncancelled, a live podcast discussing controversial topics.

The first episode which was aired at the new CliffCentral headquarters in Sandhurst on February 24 featured singer and radio personality Unathi Nkayi who did not hold back.

Both individuals took a stroll down memory lane recalling relationships and legal battles among others. Nkayi also spoke about the time when she received news that Kaya FM had let her go in 2021.

“I was making music with Prince Kaybee and his associates after Kaya FM had suspended me. Being surrounded by them Prince Kaybee and his team at that time was what I needed. The next day around 10:00 I received news that the radio station had fired me and five minutes after that, they publicly announced it,” said Nkayi.
The singer added that the only thing on her mind at that time was the well-being of her family and she called her parents who encouraged her to take legal action.

“Too many things are going unquestioned in the world today. We’re afraid to share our opinions for fear of being unpopular or, ultimately, of being cancelled. So we’ve set out to create a space for curious and inquisitive people who’re piqued by unconventional thinking and conversations,” said Cliff on the creation of Gareth Cliff Uncancelled.
