Bramley SAPS encourage safety measures during festive season

GBVF incidents increase during the festive season which was fueled by alcohol and drug abuse.

Bramley SAPS wish the community a happy and safe festive season.

Captain Molefe Mogodi highlighted that the festive season was notorious for high criminal activity.

“Christmas for many people is an opportunity to enjoy quality time with family and friends or going out shopping and buying gifts for our loved ones. Unfortunately, it is also a time of the year when criminals take advantage of opportunities created by our relaxed attitudes which is how we end up being victims of crime.”

Mogodi added that crimes such as burglaries at residential or business premises, assault, sexual offences, fraud, drunken driving and malicious damage to property and etc were popular during the previous festive season.

The SAPS Captain provided the community with safety tips over the holiday season.

“If you are going on holiday, it is advisable to arrange with someone to look after your property during your absence. Refrain from driving under the influence of alcohol and do not ask for help from strangers at ATMs.”

He concluded by thanking the community policing forum (CPF), the Community of Bramley Policing Precinct, and all the security companies who remained instrumental in fighting crime.
