Varsity College invite industry leaders to share wisdom

Career centre co-ordinator of the IIE Varsity College Sandton campus, Relebogile Maomela, states that students need to attend more events where they can engage with individuals in their careers paths to plan their future properly.

A week filled with career opportunities and development was displayed at the IIE Varsity College Sandton campus recently.

Leaders of various industries had one-on-one engagements with the students of Varsity College to discuss the future of their careers. The event took place at the career centre on the campus and focused on four courses – law, humanities and social sciences, finance and accounting, and information technology.

“During these days, different speakers from different fields of professions shared their wisdom and experience with the students on how to make themselves more employable based on the industry they will be stepping into once they graduate,” said the career centre coordinator Relebogile Maomela.

Second-year student of computer and information science in application Ghislaine Claudo Ilunga said, “I enjoyed the session as it helped shed light onto my future and I am better equipped to craft my career in a way that will benefit me.
“I was excited to learn about GitHub and basic software development. GitHub is similar to LinkedIn but for software developers.”
