Young women celebrated at Crawford Sandton

Crawford International Sandton recently hosted an auspicious Bat Mitvah celebration for five learners entering womanhood.

Crawford International Preparatory in Sandton recently hosted the coming of age of four of its learners at a Bat Mitzvah ceremony.

The occasion celebrates a Jewish girl entering womanhood when she turns 12.

According to the school’s Nadia Cooke, four Grade 6 learners from the Sandton campus and one from the Lonehill campus participated in the celebration.

“When a Jewish girl turns 12, she enters Jewish womanhood, and it is marked with a ceremony and celebration to welcome her as a Jewish adult when she is accountable for her actions.”

The afternoon highlighted the growth of these young women. The learners also discussed famous Jewish women in history and the mark that they had left on society.

“Celebrations took place surrounded by friends, families, fabulous settings, magical music and scrumptious food. This will be a day these girls will remember forever,” said Cooke.
