The Sandton SPCA remains committed to helping the community by reaching animals in need that may not always be able to visit the SPCA.
At a recent outreach day, a team of inspectors from the Marlboro-based non-profit ventured out in the extended Sandton and Alexandra areas to interact with pet owners about the importance of sterilisation as well as to retrieve the animals for sterilisation.
“Through your [the community’s] continued support, we are able to educate owners about the benefits of sterilising their pets. Our inspectors collect these animals on a daily basis and return them sterilised,” said clinic manager Marizda Kruger.
All of the treated pets also receive a care package to help ensure that they have the best change of a long and happy life with a well-educated owner.
Kruger added that the local SPCA hopes to sterilise more and more animals in underprivileged areas.
“With increase sterilisation, the cruelty to these animals will be less and less. It is really about the preventative measures.”
