Ellen Simwaka defends her International Boxing Federation (IBF) title

The ESPN Africa Boxing challenge which was held at The Galleria in Sandton offered six main cards and two undercards.

The 20th instalment of the ESPN Africa Boxing event proved to be one of the most spectacular events to ever be hosted at The Galleria in Sandton.

The event featured an all-women’s main card on August 25.

With six main cards and two undercards, boxing fans were entertained throughout the course of the evening.

The co-main event of the evening followed Malawian champion Ellen Simwaka defending her International Boxing Federation (IBF) African Bantamweight title against Zambian fighter Lina Kasweka. From start to finish, both fighters gave it their all without holding anything back. Despite Kasweka’s efforts of tiring her opponent with heavy blows to the head, Simwaka’s composure and her experience of winning proved to have added a great advantage to her victory (93-96, 97-93, 96-93).

A few fighters who were on the winning podium after their main card fights were Sazisiwe Simon who beat Adidya Mimu and Matshidiso Mokebi after winning by a technical knockout in the 7th round against Patience Mastara.

In a tremendous fight between Nosiacwase Dube and Lufuno Mutshayi, the bought ended in a tie.

Nosiacwase Dube and Lufuno Mutshayi end up with a draw.
