Station Commander of the Randburg Police Station Brigadier Michelle Jones thanked her team's hard work after arresting hijacking suspect.

A victim of an alleged hijacking and kidnapping was rescued by police after a high-speed chase between William Nicol Drive and Rivonia Road in Bryanston.

A 31-year-old suspect will appear in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court in connection with the incident.
The Randburg crime prevention team who were patrolling the freeway noticed two suspicious vehicles pulling off the road in the early hours of August 1.

They observed that inside one of the vehicles was a victim who had been blindfolded. According to the spokesperson of the Randburg Police Station Captain Makgowanyana Maja, the victim was allegedly kidnapped after three suspects hijacked the victim’s vehicle.

The situation escalated into a high-speed chase between the officials and suspects, resulting in the safe rescue of the victim and the arrest of one suspect. Two other suspects managed to flee on foot and police were still on the search for them.

The suspects’ vehicle was seized and the victim’s vehicle was later recovered in Soweto on the same day.
Randburg Police Station Commander Brigadier Michelle Jones thanked her team for their bravery and quick thinking.

Maja advised communities in the Sandton and Randburg areas to remain vigilant at all times when driving.
