Business head of Reach for the Dream says she has a passion for helping children

Natalie Lazaris talks about her passion as the business head of Reach for a Dream Foundation based in Illovo.

The business head of Reach for a Dream Foundation has shared some of her dreams, passion and purpose in life.

Natalie Lazaris joined the Illovo-based foundation in 2012. While being an inspiration is not always an easy task, she has definitely inspired her colleagues, family, the dream children and her work partners.

Born and raised in Montreal, Canada, Lazaris has always had a big heart, especially once she and her family relocated to South Africa when she was just seven years old. “Since the age of five, my goal was to help people. I gravitated towards becoming a paediatrician then it changed to becoming a doctor and helping children.

Unfortunately, I did not end up in one of those positions but I am grateful that I found myself in a career where I’m helping children. It just merged into a different way of helping. Giving back to communities has always been the plan,” said Lazaris.

In her early adulthood, Lazaris discovered her passion for psychology during her studies while also working as a crèche supervisor. Once she completed her studies, she got the opportunity to work for the dream team on August 1, 2012.

Now, 10 years later, Lazaris shared her feelings towards her role in the foundation, “Working for the foundation has allowed me to live out my purpose and passion. I never have to work a day because I love what I do and I get to interact with bright minds. Working closely with the children of the foundation has taught me to appreciate life and those that I love,” said Lazaris.

With the celebration of Women’s Day, Lazaris concluded with a powerful message towards young women, “Always believe in yourself and fight for what you want. You can achieve anything that you put your mind to. Women are powerful beings who defy the odds every single day.”
