Rotary Club celebrates new leaders
Rotary Sandton member, Andrew Smith, is excited to finally serve his members and community as the new president of the organisation.
The committee of the Rotary Sandton Club and the Rotary E (electronic) Club of Southern Africa met on July 9 at Bryanston Country Club for a prize-giving and induction ceremony for their members.
With a warm start to the day as guests greeted one another at the venue, the programme started off with the master of ceremonies Shereen Hunter welcoming everyone to the event.
“The organisation is celebrating and acknowledging all the wonderful achievements that our current members of Rotary Sandton and Rotary E Club of Southern Africa have done. We are also excited for the induction of our presidents Andrew Smith and Charlotte Khoza,” said the Rotary International district governor of district 9400, Annemarie Mostert.
Smith was inducted as president of Rotary Sandton and Khoza president of the Rotary E Club of Southern Africa.
Both individuals shared their big moment on stage and were given a warm round of applause by the committee of Rotary, close friends and their families.
“I am looking forward to serving my people and the community. Making the world a better place for everyone has always been my priority so that is my main goal, to empower Sandton and Africa,” said Smith.
Khoza who has been in the organisation since 2012, shared her Rotary journey and her reason for wanting to lead the E Club of Southern Africa. “For me it’s always been about doing more for both myself and for the people who are in need of an extra push. I was fortunate enough to meet Annemarie at my work and she informed me about the Rotary,” said Khoza.
“I really want to pave the way for the young people to have that ‘caring for others’ element because they are the future. When we all leave, the children will lead the world and it is important that we give them the tools to create a better future for all.”
