Sandton Tigers honours best performers

At its recent awards for the 2021/22 season in Hyde Park, the Sandton Tigers Cricket Club honoured its best players.

The Sandton Tigers Cricket Club continues to make strides as a club all while honouring the hard work and commitment of its players.

This was according to club chairman Jeremy Meiring when the club recently hosted its 2021/22 awards at Hyde Park High School.

“The club performed well throughout the season, two teams were in the running to win the league but unfortunately we did not make the last hurdle,” said Meiring.

He added that while four of their five teams finished the season off in fourth place, one of their teams finished in second place.

“For the last two years, our teams would always finish in fourth place so it was great to have one of the teams break that fourth place curse.”

At the awards, the club honoured the best performing players across all five of its teams.

In the SU3 team, Ross Garrett was honoured as Batter of the Year and Barend Paulse was honoured with the awards for Bowler and All-rounder of the Year.

In the SU team, Brenton Paulse was awarded as Batter of the Year, Michail Coetzee was honoured as Bowler of the Year while Marchus Joubert took home the award for All-rounder of the Year.

In the SA5 team, Saurabh Singh took home the award for Batter of the Year, Dipankar Mishra was honoured as Bowler of the Year while the award for All-rounder of the year went to Rajesh Hemmadi.

The SA6 team honoured Shareef Mohammed as Batter and All-rounder of the Year while Mahim Caturvedi took home the award for Bowler of the Year.

The Tigers Cricket Player of the Year award went to Paulse.

“I am happy with the club’s performance as our short-to-medium term goal as a club has been to get settled, create a culture within the club and get to know each other as we are a relatively new club.”

The Tigers are now focused on the next season, working to improve the performance of all five teams and further grow the club.
