Bryanston Primary School hosts 6-a-side tournament
Principal Morne Marx of Bryanston Primary School thanks guardians and parents for supporting their children in the annual 6-a side tournament
Bryanston Primary School opened its doors and gates on May 21 to welcome guardians, parents, and learners from various primary schools to participate in the annual soccer and netball 6-a-side tournament.
The well-known tournament, which has been running for more than 50 years, had over 600 learners competing for first place bragging rights, trophies, and an opportunity to make fun memories with friends. Schools that participated in the tournament, not including the home side, were Bryneven, Bryandale, Montrose, Pecanwood College, and Steyn City School. Each school had four divisions [U10-U12 and the open division] playing.
Despite the semi-harsh conditions which invited the rain, parents and guardians were not fazed as they came prepared with umbrellas, windbreaker jackets, gazebos and blankets to continue their support.
Coaches were among the people who were responsible for physically and mentally preparing their players to a successful competitive tournament.
“The atmosphere so far has been great. The children are enjoying and the parents are just amazed at how talented their children are.
Unfortunately, due to the progression of the rain we had to make a call to stop netball until further notice. Every school has done exceptionally well this year, it has been unpredictable and competitive,” said Bryanston Primary School head of netball, Anita Caissutti.
All games resumed after 10 minutes.
Players from both sports were not involved in any serious injuries during the course of the tournament. Principal of Bryanston Primary School Morne Marx thanked all the schools that participated in the annual tournament, coaches, players and the families of the players for supporting their children.
