Crawford Sandton public speaking team dominates

Crawford International Sandton’s public speaking team recently took home the win at the Speech and Drama College of South Africa’s event.

Crawford International Sandton’s public speaking team continues to excel.

The team of five learners, which included Carmen Smith (Grade 11), Matthew Purkiss (Grade 12), Fedora Jelenovic (Grade 12), Claudia Ofungi (Grade 12) and Caitlin Levien (Grade 11), were crowned the overall winners at this year’s Speech and Drama College of South Africa’s High Schools’ Public Speaking event.

The month-long event is one of the most prestigious public speaking events on the school calendar, requiring learners from the country’s top schools to deliver perfectly polished and riveting speeches.

The coaching and guidance of Marcelle Pincus, and the learners’ hard work and brave resolve saw them finish on top.

According to a social media post by the school, in addition to being the overall winners, the junior team was crowned as the winners in the Junior Open Section, while the seniors were the runners-up in the Senior Open Section.

The impromptu teams won the Impromptu Section.

“Congratulations to all the teams on their achievements, we are truly proud of them.”
