The four-day Saints Easter Sports Festival being held at St Stithians College kicked off on April 13 with scores of learners from various schools in the province and around the country participating.
It was a hive of activity, with much excitement and cheering as players of various schools started competing. The festival started with tennis, netball, squash and rugby late in the afternoon.
The festival will conclude on Easter Monday (April 18). The sports festival is a celebration of school sport, and historically, it began as a rugby festival in 1984 it had since grown to include football (boys and girls), hockey (boys and girls), netball, and squash and tennis (boys and girls).
The weekend is family-orientated, offering a full programme of sporting action, entertainment and food.
The fixtures will involve about 500 participants from leading schools across the country. With 78 schools represented, 148 teams of boys and girls will participate in different sports codes.
