Sandton SPCA recently received a R10 000 dog food donation from UmVuzo Aid

Sandton SPCA general manager Meg Wilson said the donation will go a long way in assisting its efforts in the community.

The pups at the Sandton SPCA were recently given a helping hand by community group UmVuzo Aid by means of a R10 000 dog food donation.

The donation was presented to the local SPCA’s general manager Meg Wilson and assistant manager Lindiwe Mkhondwane in Marlboro on April 1.

According to Wilson, a donation such as this will go a long way in helping not only the SPCA but also its furry friends in the extended community.

“We are so grateful to UmVuzo Aid for choosing to donate dog food to the Sandton SPCA. This donation will go towards our outreach efforts in the impoverished areas that we serve where the need is far greater than our resources.”

She added that the SPCA works in a number of neighbouring communities in need by providing education, sustainable resources, veterinary care, and cruelty intervention.

“This kind of donation goes a long way in achieving synergy with the community and working together to improve the lives of all animals.”

Gregory Soares of UmVuzo Aid said the organisation’s main objective is to assist with humanitarian and animal aid. The group began by donating dog food to various local SPCAs. “A project in the upcoming future is to build our own animal shelter with all necessary vets and hospital equipment,” said Soares.

“The objective going along with that is educating the community on how to care for animals, help animals, donate, and even volunteer at local SPCAs to help take the load of our ever hard-working animal lovers.”
