Clothes to Good and Michael Mount team up

BRYANSTON – Michael Mount who has been supporting its learners and staff members to branch out their innovative ideas of giving back, expressed that this year was a bit more special to the school.

February is not only considered to be the month of love, for some, it’s also about giving back to the community.

The Grade 10s of Michael Mount Waldorf School collected 280 bags of second-hand clothes to donate to the Clothes to Good organisation. The initiative, Michael Mount cares, highlights the importance of giving back with the power of unity.

Clothes to Good focuses on empowering people with disabilities while eradicating poverty by recycling second-hand clothes and then selling them to microbusinesses.

“As part of our Waldorf curriculum, the Grade 10 year is focused around community work, and our learners learn how to get involved and give back to those around them,” said the marketing and communications representative of the school, Christina Seuffer.

“They truly did a remarkable job of starting off their year on a high note with coordinating this worthwhile event this week. We built a big heart on the field out of all our donations.

“In total, the school was able to donate 280 bags of clothing. They [Grade 10s] look forward to running a ‘Clothes to Play’ workshop to make toys for children in need later on in the year, using a portion of the second-hand clothing donated.”

Michael Mount Waldorf extended its gratitude to everyone that played a role in the contribution of their 2022 community care drive.
