Members of the Ban Animal Trading organisation and others have gathered along Riley Road in Woodmead.
The group was seen protesting on February 11 following allegations that the property development company based in Woodmead has negatively impacted the wildlife. This is at a development project in Northriding.
According to Smaragda Louw, the chairperson of Ban Animal Trading; owls, red robin birds, guineafowls, hares, frogs and field mice were some of the indigenous animals that were occupying the area before the development of the project began.
A representative of the company did confirm that they [the company in question] had a meeting with the chairperson of Ban Animal Trading, during the week to discuss a way moving forward. The representative concluded that they are leaving the dispute in the hands of the authorities and stated that they respect the court’s process.
The Sandton Chronicle’s Motlatsi Mailula was there to capture the action. This is a developing story.
