St David’s young guns put one over Old Boys

SANDOWN – At the end of the nail-biting match, this year’s first team took home the win with a final score of 44–40.

It was a fun afternoon on the basketball court at St David’s Marist Inanda as the school hosted its annual Old Boys basketball match.

The match, which has been a longstanding tradition since basketball began at the Sandown-based school, saw the current first basketball team take on a team of alumni.

The Old Boys (alumni) has have been the reigning champions since 2018.

According to a social media post from the school, both teams played an incredible game with the scores remaining close throughout the entire match.

“Each team would hold the lead for a few minutes before the opposing side took it back.”

“Every player enjoyed the match greatly, and their love for the game demonstrates the value of the basketball programme for the young athletes at St David’s Marist Inanda and those that have since graduated to beyond our gates,” said the school.
