According to Oscar Swanepoel, head of the English department at Bryanston Primary, the learners look forward to championing the book drive this year to reach more children in need,” said Swanepoel.

“Bryanston Primary School looks forward to expanding the book drive in 2022 and providing a world of possibilities made available through books and reading.

“Covid-19 may have temporarily thrown us curveball, but we are up and running again.”

This year’s charity champions are two Grade 7 learners, Brooke Mestrum and Sacha Pillay, and two Grade 6 learners, Raegan Demmer and Lance Roman.

“They promote the drive and collect, sort and distribute the books to the various institutions – strict Covid-19 protocols are followed.”

The school would like to appeal to the community to donate any unwanted or disregarded books to the drive, all good quality books, picture books or books suitable for children.

“If your kids have outgrown their books or you simply want to spring-clean the bookshelves, please look our way and assist us in this noble cause.”
