Excitement was in the air as netball players from various primary schools were finally competing against one another in the 2022 Montrose Night Challenge that started on January 28.
Four games commenced during the first whistle of the tournament. In the highly anticipated game played in court one, Montrose Primary School faced Dainfern College. Spectators cheered on for their schools as the game began. The games were set to only have two halves instead of four quarters.
Dainfern College dominated the first half of the game as Ayva Pillay scored two goals. At the start of the second half, Montrose came to the court with a whole new attitude and energy as the goal shooter started scoring goals. Towards the end, it seemed that it would be level between the two.
Dainfern College was able to finish the match with a win as they changed their strategy from attacking to defending. The final score of the game was 5–4 in favour of Dainfern. Spectators cheered for both teams as they made their way out of the court.
Teams that were getting ready to play next were informed by officials to pack up their bags and wait by the gazebos as the rain disrupted the entire programme of the day. It is said that all teams will resume their matches by this week.
