St David Marist celebrates 100% pass rate

INANDA – A collective of 283 distinctions were achieved by 131 full time and two part time learners, nine of which achieved a ‘full house’ of distinctions (seven or more subjects above 80%).

St David Marist Inanda’s matriculating class celebrated its 100% IEB pass rate and 94% bachelor’s pass on January 19.

The learners persevered through two gruelling years in a pandemic, all leading up to this moment.

A collective 283 distinctions were achieved by 131 full-time and two part-time learners, nine of which achieved a ‘full house’ of distinctions (seven or more subjects above 80%).

The honour of the Dux Scholar went to Mohamed Cassim with an astounding 10 distinctions.

Concluding the top four were Joshua Dacre, Kabir Misri and Matthew Shahim, who attained eight distinctions each.

According to executive headmaster Mike Thiel, the learners overcame a number of challenges throughout the year, both individually and as a unit.

“We are therefore exceptionally proud of our boys for the results they achieved across the board, but more so for the resilience and camaraderie for one another that was shown during this time.

“I believe that the skills and character built over this time will equip them well for a world that requires agility, creative problem-solving, kindness and compassion.”

He added that while the focus was often placed on the top achievers, rightfully so, a number of learners achieved exceptional results given their own personal struggles and challenges.

“We celebrate all of our boys for achieving this significant milestone in their lives,” said Thiel.
