Redhill School excels internationally

MORNINGSIDE – Five of its 18 learners achieved a score of 40 points or more for the International Baccalaureate (IB), placing in the top 5% in the world.

Redhill School recently excelled at an international level with its Class of 2021 achieving an exceptional average score of 37 out of a potential 45 for their International Baccalaureate (IB).

Five of its 18 learners achieved a score of 40 points or more, placing in the top 5% in the world.

According to executive head Joseph Gerassi, the school could not be more proud of both the learners and the teachers for the phenomenal results.

Redhill School is currently the only school in South Africa that offers learners the option of graduating with either the Independent Examinations Board or IB Diploma.

“While offering two very different curricula and navigating the various staffing and venue challenges that arise, it is incredibly rewarding to see our students excel at an international level while also potentially gaining access to some of the very best universities in the world,” said Gerassi.

More than 66% of the learners scored 36 points and above, the benchmark for access to some of the most prestigious universities in the UK and USA. Two of the top five learners have applied to international universities.

“Our students’ success comes after two extremely challenging years that required them to dig deep, navigate between online, hybrid and on-campus learning, and partner with their peers in new ways to achieve their full potential.

“Not only have they earned the respect of the Redhill teachers, but also inspired the students following in their footsteps who have witnessed their journey and learned from their example.”
