Kindness tour focuses on helping the less fortunate

SANDTON – Clinical therapist and executive television producer of Maharba Productions, Abraham Pieters, started his campaign known as the Kindness Tour whereby he donates essential items to those who are in need

An act of kindness in today’s society is crucial and needed.

The world is filled with a lot of tension and negativity whereby good news is starting to sound more and more like a fairy tale. Today’s fairy tale turned into a reality is of a Sandton resident who spent the majority of his festive season donating resources to those less fortunate.

Clinical therapist and executive television producer of Maharba Productions, Abraham Pieters, started a donation drive where he sets out to donate essential items to those in need. Established in 2019, the donation drive has grown to touch the hearts of many Africans from various locations, such as Sandton, and is making its way to Namibia.

Pieters was pushed to help those in need after a conversation with a homeless individual. The discussion was solely based on the homeless man describing how society treats and depicts people living with no means of shelter and essential goods. Pieter later found that the majority of the people without homes felt invisible to society.

“As someone who interacts with people from poorer backgrounds and conditions, I always hear ‘nobody sees us, we are nobody’s demographic, just because we’re poor and that to me is sad to hear. I’ve learned that it’s not about my time on this planet but my donation on this planet that’s the only way I’ll be able to make this world suck less every day,” said Pieters.

The donation drive has mainly been focusing on employees working at various food outlets, car guards, employed cleaners at shopping centres and individuals with children on the streets of Sandton and other locations. Although the drive has no specific direction on its locations of donating, it leaves many with another day to live.

“The smiles that I get to see on a daily basis fills me up with so much contentment and joy that can’t be replaced with anything. Kindness is the most inexpensive gift you can ever give to someone. I carry the words of Teddy Roosevelt who said, do what you can, with what you’ve got, where you are,” concluded Pieters.
