Sandton Police Station thanks the community members of Sandton for 2021

SANDTON – The station commander listed a few important operations that officials will be focusing on during the course of the festive season.

Station Commander of the Sandton Police Station Brigadier Egen Moodley takes the time to honour police officers who risked their lives during the pandemic and to those that have lost their lives due to the pandemic.

While celebrating the conclusion of 2021, the station urges the citizens to be cautious and vigilant as new breeds of criminals will emerge to take advantage of any given opportunity. The station commander listed a few important operations that officers will be focusing on during the course of the festive season.

One operation which the station commander addressed was the additional deployment of police officers including members of the crime intelligence to patrol and secure hotspot areas: officers will mainly prioritise crimes related to gender-based violence (GBV), burglaries, all kinds of robberies and hijacking of vehicles.

Moodley added that roadblocks will be on regularly during the festive season in hopes of keeping the area safe from criminals.

With the presence of Covid-19, there were times where the station was forced to temporarily close due to some police officers contacting the pandemic. He further sends his condolences to all people who have lost their loved ones during the pandemic.

Moodley added, “I would like to also thank our partners in fighting crime for their dedication and commitment: Sandton Community Police Forum (CPF) , community patrollers, Sector Crime Forums, Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD), Gauteng Traffic Police, security companies, residents associations, City of Johannesburg and private emergency services, non-profit organisations (NGOs), religious organisations and other government entities. I pray that the Lord will embrace all of you with protection and keep you safe as you render your duties during the festive season. This crime-fighting partnership proved to be very valuable during the course of this year and I hope to build on this during 2022.”

The station commander concluded by encouraging residents to remain vigilant and to adhere to the Covid-19 regulations while having fun during the course of December.
