Emi thanks residents associations for hard work

FONTAINEBLEAU – Ward councillor outlines her highlights of the year.

It has been a year of community involvement and active resident engagement, said Ward 104 councillor Emi Koekemoer.

As 2021 comes to an end I would like to wish the residents of Ward 104 well during the holiday season. As a community, we have found strength in each other in hard economic times brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic that changed so many aspects of our lives, including the way we govern.

This year, I would like to single out a key highlight in our ward and that is the incredible bonds formed by community groups, public- and private sectors in navigating a new way of optimising service delivery in our ward through collaborative efforts.

The involvement we have seen from our local resident’s associations, community forums and ordinary South Africans wanting to make a difference has been nothing short of remarkable.

Some of these residents associations include but are not limited to Clamp, Curzon Road RA, Ferndale RA, Bryanfern RA, Frac RA, KRA, VGRA, Malanshof East RA, Fontainebleau Forum, Cottersmore Community and Randridge RA, to name but a few.

I would also like to extend my thanks to those who run community WhatsApp groups to streamline service delivery escalations, these include but are not limited to Juliet Hallam, Karla Swanepoel, Pommie Lutchman and Herman Redelinghuis.

A special thanks to the Lions Club for their Covid-19 food parcel distributions and relief efforts. To the City officials and municipal staff that work tirelessly to better services to our communities, we thank you for your dedication and last, but not least, a special thank you to Mike Wood (outgoing councillor of Ward 104) for laying a strong foundation in our communities to build on.

While we face many challenges ahead in ensuring good governance, I am certain that with the continued involvement of our communities we will get things done.

Stay safe, mask up and sanitise during the holidays.
