Sandton Chefs Circle celebrate children of St. Laurence Children’s Haven

SANDTON – The end of the year function brings a positive light in restoring the joy of the foster children from St. Laurence Children's Haven who were the honoured guests of the day

Members of the Sandton Chefs Circle were all in high spirits during the 43rd Sandton Chefs Circle lunch that was hosted at Maslow Hotel on December 6.

The end of year function hosted foster children of St Laurence Children’s Haven who were the honoured guests of the day.

Sandton Chefs Circle was established in 2013 to honour the hard-working men and women of the culinary industry but also shifts its attention to far bigger causes.

The organisation holds about five lunch dates in a year for its members to all connect with one another. Members are required to either bring toys, books or clothes to these functions and the accumulated items are then given to the guests of honour at the year-end function, this year being the children of St. Laurence Children’s Haven.

Director of the HTA School of Culinary Arts, Stephen Billingham, coordinated the 2021 function with the help of the executive chef of Maslow Hotel, Omar Menhouk and Rapula Modikwane, manager of food and beverage at the hotel.

“We’ve had a tough couple of years and this was something that everybody looked forward to. These events are all about the recognition and the comradery of cooks while basing it on an important cause of helping the children from St Laurence Children’s Haven in Roodepoort,” said Billingham.

After some entertainment, lunch and dessert, the children were able to choose their gifts.
