Woman’s Warehouse walk the talk for 16 Days of Activism

SANDTON – During the discussion, Lee stated that teenage girls miss a total of 50 days on an annual basis due their periods and the lack of pad resources.

The fight against gender-based violence and period poverty continue.

A peaceful protest organised by women empowerment organisation, Woman’s Warehouse highlighted their plans of addressing these issues during their march from Sandown Clinic to the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) on December 3.

Participants of the march including the newly crowned Mrs South Africa 2022, Jo Judnick-Wilson were safely escorted by Metro police, Sandton police and local security companies to the JSE headquarters where a discussion of the organisation’s plans took place.

Managing director and founder of Woman’s Warehouse, Nadine Clevely presented a memorandum detailing these plans to JSE director of marketing and corporate affairs, Vuyo Lee, who agreed to assist the organisation in the fight against period poverty and gender-based violence.

“We asked ourselves, ‘What are we going to do for the 16 Days of Activism? We decided that we were going to march and that we were going to partner with organisations on finding solutions to period poverty within our country. My dream is to have a centre in every major city in South Africa where we’ll have workshops on anti-rape, intimate health and counselling,” said Clevely.
