Sandton School Group stands against bullying

BRYANSTON – The school opened the week-long campaign with a funky sock celebration where the learners were able to celebrate their individuality and diversity all while still being part of a unit.

The learners and teachers of the Sandton School Group in Bryanston recently took a proactive stance with its anti-bullying campaign.

According to Sandton School Group CEO Nadya Katz, the aim of the campaign is to ensure learners are educated about bullying in a supportive, caring and safe environment without fear of being bullied.

“Educating learners on different types of bullying was our number-one priority and further ensuring all learners were given information on how the school builds a positive school culture and actively works to prevent bullying behaviours.”

She added that school administrators and teachers play a crucial role in both preventing bullying and stopping it when it does occur.

The school opened the week-long campaign with a funky sock day where the learners were able to celebrate their individuality and diversity all while still being part of a unit.

“Activities such as a kindness challenge, kindness flowers whereby we pay tribute to positive attributes of each learner, were promoted on the anti-bullying week.”

Each grade was assigned a colour and had a week to perform as many acts of kindness as possible.

There were prizes up for grabs, which the Grade R learners were awarded after winning the challenge.
