The Cradle Moon Challenge 2 welcomed the learners and staff of Bryanston High School

BRYANSTON – Participants were in full shock as the temperature of the lake was freezing cold however, that did not hinder the mission of completing the challenge especially for the determined open swim team of Bryanston High.

Learners and staff members of Bryanston High School put on their game faces as they were faced with a challenge to conquer the Cradle Moon Swim Challenge 2 on November 28. A total of 24 participants represented the school during the challenge.

The presence of the pandemic caused a major disturbance in the annual challenge as organisers had to call it off last year [2020] in order to avoid the spread of Covid-19. Once word got out that the challenge would resume in 2021, over 100 swimmers, including members of the Bryanston High School open water team, decided to register for the Cradle Moon Challenge 2 without any second thoughts.

Participants were in full shock as the temperature of the lake was freezing cold, however, that did not hinder the mission of completing the challenge especially for the determined open swim team of Bryanston High.

Bryanston High School matriculant Megan Shepard completed the challenge in a staggering time of 16:46 which landed her in an overall position of second place. The top three swimmers of Bryanston High School in the women’s section were: Megan Shepard (16:46), Megan Hunt (20:15) and Erin Raath (20:38). In the men’s section the results were: Matthew Hunt (20:58), Daniel Richter (21:33) and Jake Berry (22:23).

“We are extremely proud of both our students and staff for their participation and achievements at this event. We are all extremely excited for the upcoming events in 2022 in preparation for our Midmar Tour,” concluded educator and one of the representatives of Bryanston High’s open water swimming team, Robynne Reid.
