Food, music and friends all in one space at the food truck market

SANDTON – More than seven food trucks were invited to share some of their amazing signature dishes and drinks to the locals of Sandton

Rain and food markets have never been a perfect combination but on November 27, Sandton residents decided to grab their umbrellas and coats just to attend the food truck market at the Black Brick Club.

More than seven food trucks were invited to share some of their amazing signature dishes and drinks with the locals. The food at the Sandton food truck market ranged from gourmet hot dogs, Italian-made pizzas to jumbo-sized kotas.

Born in Joburg market organiser Tayla Foong has always envisioned a community of her food truck friends coming together as one to share their greatest with numerous communities in Johannesburg.

“Born in Joburg is a market that we started in collaboration with Black Brick and this is our first installation. My network is largely creative in Johannesburg: food, art, design, music and other forms of art. It’s a market created and connected by friends. We are hoping to grow the Born in Joburg brand into a street food community and it really looks promising so far,” said Foong.

Anthony Batistich, one of the participants at the Born in Joburg food truck market, said, “I came here today with my son to view some apartments at the Black Brick. It’s a wonderful market, so far we’ve had Paul’s Homemade Ice Cream and we can’t wait to experience more of the market.”
